Academic Advisory Committee

Introduction

Encouraging a community of like minded educational experts in the development and dissemination of Open Source educational opportunities - supporting global and local employability skills and the proliferation of open technological resources.

Scope, Mandate and Activities

• Report to and liaise with LPI Executive Director (“ED”) to encourage the spawning of educational, skills and training opportunities from the activities of this committee
• Advising LPI on certification programs and content (new and current) including industry 4.0 topics
  
• Help organise lobbying to gain acceptance with national and local governments, education authorities, national qualification frameworks,international (such as European) qualification frameworks, etc.
  
• Create a culture where we can encourage others to become mutual lobbyists to government
  
• Equip activists to engage with external stakeholders
  
• Creation of an open source education advocacy knowledge base from a global perspective, containing: good practice
  
• Compendium of international/national official educational initiatives (political)
  
• Compendium of international/national educational initiatives (economical)
  
• What is the equivalent of QCF/Register/Apprenticeship/Points around the world?
  
• Contain a SWOT analysis of each stakeholder
  
• Filling the gaps of how to train
  
• Clarify and prioritize learning objectives for various certifications
  
• Training Materials, Lab Resources, Train The Trainer, Language / Translation
  
• Taking into account the level of digitization of different school systems
  
• Advisory committee, requires a global viewpoint and engagement
  
• Standardisation of terminology so all parties understand and speak common terminology
  
• Helping non-participating nations develop their Linux education programmes

Mechanics

How the AAC works:
The AAC meets monthly for a collaborative online meeting that all members should attend. In these monthly online meetings the common goals and the steps towards the goals are discussed.
The individual working groups work according to their own specifications and discuss their further procedure in online settings.
In the main joint meetings, the individual working groups report on the current status of the groups and their next steps.
