Purpose

This document is meant to provide a higher level overview into what has changed with the objectives update for the Linux Essentials exam (010).

Changes in Exam 010

The following changes constitute the update of exam 010 from version 1.5 to version 1.6:

Topic 1: The Linux Community and a Career in Open Source
- 1.1 Linux Evolution and Popular Operating Systems
  - Moved 'Open Source Philosophy' to 1.3 Open Source Software and Licensing
  - Added 'Linux in the Cloud'
  - Added 'SUSE'
  - Added 'Raspberry Pi, Raspbian'
- 1.2 Major Open Source Applications
  - Added 'Nextcloud, ownCloud'
  - Added 'JavaScript'
- 1.3 Understanding Open Source Software and Licensing
  - Added 'Copyleft, Permissive'
  - Moved 'Open Source Philosophy' from 1.1 Linux Evolution and Popular Operating Systems
Topic 2: Finding Your Way on a Linux System
- (no changes)
Topic 3: The Power of the Command Line
- 3.1 Archiving Files on the Command Line
  - (no changes)
- 3.2 Searching and Extracting Data from Files
  - (no changes)
- 3.3 Turning Commands into a Script
  - Changed 'Awareness of common text editors' to 'Awareness of common text editors (vi and nano)'

In addition, several editorial changes were made which do not add or remove content from the objectives.
