What about xz?
I can read in "Version Upgrade Addendum (Aug 1st, 2012)" that it was "added explicit coverage of Linux 3.x kernel in 201.1, 201.2, 201.5 key terms list and description." I then think that the xz (LZMA) compression algorithm ought to be added in "206.1.2 Extracting Source Code from an Archive", as the 3.* series kernels are available also as tar.xz archives upstream.
